Tips

Before cooking, make sure to preheat your grill or pizza stone, which will help you achieve an evenly cooked, crispy crust. So do not skip the recommended preheating of 10-15 minutes. If you do not have a stone, you can also use a cast iron skillet or a large, heavy-duty baking sheet – remember to also let either the pan or baking sheet preheat on the grill.

Tips

When rolling out the dough, aim for a thin and even layer to ensure that the crust cooks evenly on the grill and does not become overly doughy or undercooked in some areas. A thinner crust will also cook more quickly, which is crucial when grilling pizzas.

Tips

Keep a close eye on the pizza while it is grilling, as the high heat can cause it to cook faster than you might expect. Look for a crispy golden-brown crust and melted cheese to determine when it is done. Cooking times may vary depending on the grill's temperature and the thickness of the crust, but it generally takes around 6-10 minutes. To ensure even cooking, rotate the pizza 180 degrees halfway through the grilling process, preventing any hot spots on the grill from burning one side of it.

Grilled pizza with stone – delicious, crispy base and perfectly melted cheese

A stone-grilled pizza is a gastronomic delight that takes the traditional version to a whole new level of taste and texture. Using a pizza stone on the grill, you can achieve a deliciously crispy base and perfectly melted cheese. The stone absorbs and evenly distributes the heat from the grill, which results in a consistent, crispy crust. Furthermore, the high heat from the grill allows the cheese to melt evenly and develop a rich, gooey texture that complements the crispiness of the base. By using a stone, you can create restaurant-quality pizzas in the comfort of your backyard, making it an indispensable addition to your grilling collection.

Thinly cut courgette, salty salad cheese, gooey shredded cheese, and savoury rocket

The toppings on a grilled pizza are what make it truly special. We opted for thin courgette slices, crumbled salad cheese, shredded cheese, and fresh rocket lettuce, adding up to a delicious and harmonious blend of flavours. The courgette introduces a light, earthy taste, while the salad cheese adds a rich, creamy contrast. The luscious, melted shredded cheese contributes a velvety texture, and the flavourful rocket lettuce imparts a peppery note that counterbalances the otherwise quite rich flavours. This captivating mix of ingredients culminates in a memorable and unbelievably delicious grilled pizza.
