Tips

To ensure that the grilled ribs are evenly cooked, try to monitor the temperature throughout the cooking process. By doing so, all the meat will be perfectly done at the same time, meaning that every bite is as good as the previous one.

Tips

A simple way to give your meat that extra flavour boost is to let it rest for a few minutes before serving. We know it looks delicious and ready to eat, but by letting it rest, you allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, giving it a lovely moist bite.

Questions about grilled spareribs

Below, we go through some frequently asked questions on how to cook ribs on a barbeque to prepare you for a summer full of BBQ.

How to cook ribs on a BBQ?
Cooking spare ribs on the BBQ is as easy as it comes, but you will still feel like a BBQ master doing it. Start by salting the rack and cook it over a hot flame for about 10 minutes on both sides. After that, brush both sides of the rack with a sparerib marinade to give it a nice flavourful coating. Barbecue for another 5 minutes on each side. Now, cut the rack into pieces along the legs and coat with another layer of marinade – preferably with added honey this time. Another 5 minutes should do it – now get ready to get your fingers dirty.
How long to barbecue spareribs?
Spareribs need to be grilled for a total of about 30-35 minutes. Remember to flip them several times during the cooking process. The first part will take about 10 minutes on each side, whereas the second will be 5 minutes on each side. After cutting the rack into smaller pieces, they need about five minutes in total on the BBQ, and then they are ready to eat.

You can serve grill ribs with a vast variety of salads and sides. A traditional BBQ choice would be to serve the meat with a delicious potato salad with tangy apples. It is easily made in advance and can be brought to any picnic or BBQ party. For something even lighter, a simple watermelon salad is both easy on the eye and the taste buds. It perfectly combines the naturally sweet with the naturally fresh that fits so well with the savoury grilled spareribs. Ideas for modifying the recipe

With most meat you cook on the BBQ, you can try various ways of experimenting with the marinade. Here, we give you a few suggestions if you are in an adventurous mood.

A spicy chipotle marinade is quite like the original savoury marinade, but there is an added touch of smoky flavour from the chipotle peppers. Combine oil, lime juice, honey, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and chipotle peppers for a warm and smoky marinade perfect for a day out in the sun.

Grilled spareribs and BBQ in general are extremely popular in Asia as well, so why not try an Asian-inspired teriyaki marinade? The soy sauce, honey, ginger, sesame oil, and rice vinegar will imbue the meat with savoury, slightly sweet, and tangy flavours and give the ribs an irresistible glaze when grilled.

You could also go with a classic BBQ marinade that will give a familiar rich and sweet flavour profile. We suggest well-balanced ingredients such as tomato ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, mustard powder, salt, and black pepper.
