Homemade Cheese Burgers

Homemade Cheese Burgers

This easy recipe is just the thing for impromptu summer BBQ's - and completely lactose free!

Ingredients

Olive oil
1 tbsp
Butter, unsalted
1 tbsp
Large red onions
4
Caster sugar
1 tbsp
Balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp
Beef mince
600 g
Small iceberg lettuce
1
Beefsteak tomato
1
Arla® LactoFREE Cheddar (Sliced)
30 g
Sesame Seed Burger Buns
4
Salt
1 pinch
Black pepper
1 pinch

Instructions

Step 1

  • Heat together the oil and butter in a large frying or sauté pan set over a medium heat.

Step 2

  • Add the onions and a little salt, allowing them to sweat for 10-12 minutes until softened.

Step 3

  • Stir in the sugar and balsamic vinegar and continue to cook over a reduced heat for a further 15-20 minutes until dark and glossy in appearance; stir from time to time to prevent burning.

Step 4

  • Preheat a grill or barbecue to a high setting.

Step 5

  • Scrunch together the beef mince with plenty of seasoning in a large mixing bowl; cover and chill for 10 minutes.

Step 6

  • Divide the mince into four balls before shaping into thin patties between your palms; press your thumb lightly into their centres to leave an imprint.

Step 7

  • Grill the burgers for 2-3 minutes on both sides until cooked and juicy; cook the burgers for an additional minute on both sides should you wish for a more well-done burger.

Step 8

  • Toast the buns if desired before topping with shredded lettuce, a slice of tomato and a cooked patty.

Step 9

  • Top with slices of Lactofree® Cheese and some stewed onions before serving.
Enjoy!
