The best cooking time

Fry the chicken patties on each side for 5–6 minutes to ensure they are perfectly cooked – juicy on the inside and beautifully browned on the outside. Monitor the heat closely and adjust it if needed to prevent the burgers from burning on the outside while still raw inside.

Grilling for a smokier flavour

Grilling the chicken patties offers a wonderful alternative and infuses them with a smoky flavour. This adds a pleasing charred texture to the burgers, providing a different sensory experience.

Flip the burgers only once

Flipping the burgers only once during cooking can help them cook more evenly. Frequent turning can cause the juices to escape and ultimately result in dry patties. Allow the first side to cook thoroughly, then flip it to finish cooking on the other side. This ensures that each side has ample time to form a nicely browned crust.

FAQ: Questions about minced chicken burgers

Below, we answer some of the most common questions about making minced chicken burgers.

Can minced chicken burgers be prepared ahead of time?

You can prepare the chicken patty mixture 1 day before cooking. Keep them in a sealed container in the fridge to maintain moisture. Simply shape the patties when you are ready to make the burgers. You can also cut the peppers ahead of time and keep them in the fridge.

Nestled between toasted buns, fresh greens, and fried peppers

The minced chicken patties are nestled comfortably between toasted buns, fresh greens, and colourful fried peppers. Sautéing the peppers brings out their natural sweetness without sacrificing the welcome crunch that comes from biting into them. A mix of fresh green salad leaves fills the burger with a refreshing crunch, complementing the fried peppers and the savoury chicken patties.

Deliciously creamy yoghurt-honey dressing

There is something special about topping a minced chicken burger with a creamy yoghurt-honey dressing. This dressing uses thick Turkish yoghurt, which has a nice tang and clings perfectly to the burger. The honey adds a subtle floral sweetness, and a squeeze of lemon juice brings a zesty zing. It is a fantastic match for the juicy chicken and sautéd peppers. Plus, this dressing is so delicious that you might find yourself drizzling it over other dishes, too!

Serve with classic sides

Everyone has their favourite sides to go with a juicy burger. Classic crispy fries are always a hit for dipping, while sweet potato fries bring a softer, sweeter twist without losing that beloved crunch. If you are in the mood for something extra, onion rings add a satisfying crunch that perfectly rounds out your burger feast.

For a fresher touch, a creamy coleslaw with cabbage, carrots, and a light dressing provides a crisp contrast. And if you are looking for something lighter, a fresh salad with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and a zesty vinaigrette can keep things refreshing and balanced.

Explore other ingredients

There are endless ways to customise minced chicken burgers using different ingredients. Start simple by adding a grilled portobello mushroom on top of the patty for an extra meaty texture and rich, earthy taste. Try sliced avocado for a buttery contrast to the crispy peppers and fresh greens for a creamy element.

To many, a good burger cannot exist without bacon. Throw in a couple of crispy slices for a salty, savoury boost. Instead of white cheese, mix grated cheddar or mozzarella into the chicken patty mixture for a melty, cheesy centre.
