Top Tip

ook for pre-sliced frozen strawberries, which blend more easily, but whole strawberries work as well if you have a powerful blender. Make sure everything is blended well to get a smooth texture without any lumps or chunks of fruit. If the whole frozen strawberries are too much for your blender, let them sit for 5-10 minutes in the blender with the other ingredients before blending.

Freeze for later

You can make ahead the strawberry smoothie and freeze it for later. Prepare it according to the recipe and pour it into a freezer-safe glass jar or freezer bag. Store the smoothie in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you are ready to enjoy it, let the frozen drink thaw in the fridge for a few hours or overnight. The texture may change a bit, but you can blend it for a few seconds before serving to get the right creamy consistency.

Questions about strawberry smoothies

If you love bright colours and juicy flavours, you are going to love our recipe for strawberry smoothie with yoghurt and frozen strawberries. To learn more about it, keep reading below!

How to make a strawberry smoothie?

Place frozen strawberries in a blender with ice cubes, icing sugar, freshly squeezed lemon juice, yoghurt, and milk. Blend everything at the highest speed for about 45 seconds until the ice is crushed. Taste the smoothie to see if the flavour or texture needs adjusting. Finally, divide the smoothie into 2 tall cold glasses and serve them right away.

Do you use fresh or frozen strawberries for strawberry smoothies?

You can use either fresh or frozen strawberries for the smoothie, but we suggest going for frozen ones as they keep the frothy drink chill and provide it with an extra creamy and thick texture. However, if you use fresh berries, just add a few more ice cubes to help chill the smoothie.

How do you thicken strawberry smoothies?

The key to a thick and creamy consistency is using frozen ingredients, which is why the combination of frozen strawberries and yoghurt gives the smoothie a thicker texture. The icing sugar is also a great help in making the strawberry smoothie thicker. Also, if you are experimenting with different flavours, try using fruits like bananas and mangos, as they tend to have an excellent thickening effect because of their thick flesh.

Can you make strawberry smoothies ahead?

Yes, you can make strawberry smoothies ahead and keep them chilled in the fridge. It is best to drink them within 24 hours of making them for maximum flavour. Store them in an airtight container or mason jars to preserve the taste and texture. Give the smoothies a good stir before drinking to make sure the ingredients are well combined.

Make a strawberry smoothie with banana, blueberry, and mango

Use our recipe for strawberry smoothie as a base for a banana strawberry smoothie. It is a perfect marriage of sweet and fresh flavours. Making a flavourful banana strawberry smoothie is as simple as blending all the ingredients until you have a smooth, uniform mixture bursting with juicy strawberry flavour and a pop of pink colour. Both fresh and frozen strawberries work with this recipe. The banana gives the characteristic perfectly creamy and smooth consistency of a banana strawberry smoothie.

The flavours of a strawberry smoothie also pair well with mangos for a strawberry mango smoothie. Add frozen mango pieces to the blender and blend with the other ingredients until you have a smoothie texture. If you do not have frozen mango, you can cut fresh mango into smaller pieces and pop them in the freezer until they are solid.

How about a blueberry, banana, and strawberry smoothie? It sounds like a mouthful but tastes so delicately sweet with a juicy burst of berries. For a frothy texture, use frozen banana slices and blueberries and blitz them in the blender with the other ingredients.
